Back-billing – where an energy firm hits you with an unexpected bill for energy used over 12 months ago that you haven’t been correctly billed for before – should be rare, as suppliers can only do it in very limited circumstances. But with more cases being reported, the rules must be set out more clearly and be enforced properly, MoneySavingExpert.com founder Martin Lewis has told a cross-party group of MPs.
